Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Azerbaijan eVisa at evisa.gov.az. The standard processing takes 3 working days (€25 fee) or you can pay €55 for urgent 3-hour processing. Print the approved eVisa and carry it with your passport — border officers scan the QR code on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Singapore passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure date from Azerbaijan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Heydar Aliyev Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Hotel booking confirmations or a letter of invitation from a host in Azerbaijan satisfy this requirement. Officers rarely check, but having a printed copy avoids delays if asked.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
Carry at least 200 AZN (approximately 120 USD) per day in cash or show a bank statement. ATMs are available at the airport, but having cash on hand speeds up the immigration process.Recommended
Visa on arrival only at Baku airport
This visa is only available at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. If you're arriving by land from Georgia, Iran, or Russia, you must get an e-visa before you travel.
Cash is king at the visa counter
The visa on arrival counter often only accepts cash. Bring around 30 USD or the equivalent in Azerbaijani manat. Cards may not work.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD)
After landing, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' counters before passport control. These are clearly marked.

You'll get a short form at the counter. Fill in your passport details, flight info, and accommodation address. Staff can help if needed.
3
Pay the visa fee
Hand over the completed form and your passport to the officer. Pay the fee — cash (USD or AZN) is safest. Keep the receipt.
4
Wait for processing
Processing takes about 10–15 minutes. You'll be called when your visa is ready. Collect your passport with the visa sticker inside.
5
Proceed to passport control
Go to the main immigration queue. Present your passport with the visa sticker, your boarding pass, and any requested documents (like your return ticket or hotel booking).
6
