Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
E-VisaYou must get this online approval before you fly — without it you will be denied boarding or entry.

Proof of fundsHave a credit card or cash available in case an officer asks how you'll support yourself.
Sufficient money for stay
No specific minimum amount is published, but you should be able to show you have enough funds to cover your stay in Mauritania if asked.Recommended

Cash only at visa counter
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in cash — euros or US dollars. There are no ATMs or card machines before passport control. Bring enough cash for the fee and any unexpected expenses.
eVisa is single-entry
The eVisa you get is valid for one entry only. If you leave Mauritania and want to return, you'll need to apply for another eVisa (and pay again).

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to https://maave.gov.mr/en/ and fill out the application. You'll need your passport details, travel dates, and a digital photo. Pay the fee online (around €55). Processing takes 3–5 business days, so don't leave it to the last minute.
2
Print or save the eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get a PDF. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Nouakchott.
3
Arrive at Nouakchott International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Visa on Arrival'. There's a dedicated counter before passport control. Have your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket ready.
4
Pass through passport control
The officer will check your passport, stamp it, and note your entry date. Keep the stamp safe — you'll need it when you leave. Then collect your bags and exit.

The eVisa is not extendable. If you need to stay longer, you'd have to leave and re-enter, or apply for a different visa type before travel. Overstaying costs €10 per day, so don't risk it.
Only if you're arriving from a country with yellow fever transmission risk. Singapore isn't one, so you're fine. But if you're coming from somewhere like Nigeria or Brazil, you'll need the certificate. Check with your doctor before travel.
You'll be denied boarding. Renew your passport before you travel. The 6 months are counted from your entry date, not your departure.
