Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Nigeria eVisa
Apply for a Nigeria eVisa at the Nigeria Immigration Service portal before you travel. The online form asks for your passport details, travel dates, and a digital photo. Processing takes 3–5 business days, and you receive an approval letter by email — print it and bring it to the airport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Singapore passport
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Nigeria. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration officers in Lagos and Abuja enforce it strictly. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before you book.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration at Lagos and Abuja airports routinely asks for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone. Without one, you may be denied boarding or entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Nigeria. Immigration officers sometimes ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A simple booking printout works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement or enough cash (around $500–$1,000 USD equivalent) to cover your stay. Immigration may ask how you plan to support yourself, especially for longer visits.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have a yellow fever vaccination certificate (Yellow Card) to enter Nigeria. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport at your own expense. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa, passport, and return ticket as PDFs or screenshots on your phone. Also email copies to yourself. If you lose your printed documents, you can still access them.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Nigeria Immigration Service portal at https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/. Fill in the application form, upload your passport photo and passport data page, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get an eVisa document via email. Print a copy and save a digital version on your phone. You'll need to show it at the airport check-in and on arrival in Nigeria.
3
Arrive at a Nigerian airport
Most flights land at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Lagos or Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV) in Abuja. Follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Arrivals'.
4
Present documents at immigration
Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer may ask about your accommodation and purpose of visit. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport and let you through.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. Exit into the arrivals hall.
