Singapore passport holders can enter Panama without a visa for stays up to 90 days. This policy started in 2024 and covers tourism, business, and short visits. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your arrival date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least the full 90 days you plan to stay in Panama. Airlines at Changi may ask to see 6 months of validity — if yours has less, carry a printed copy of Panama's official policy showing no 6-month rule.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Panama
Immigration at Tocumen Airport routinely asks for a return or onward ticket within 90 days. Budget airlines like Copa and Air Panama enforce this at check-in. A refundable ticket or a cheap bus ticket to Costa Rica works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a printed or digital hotel confirmation for at least the first few nights. If staying with friends, a simple letter with their address and phone number is fine. Officers rarely ask, but it smooths things if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to around $500–$1,000 USD. Panama doesn't have a fixed minimum, but officers may ask how you'll fund your stay. A credit card with a decent limit usually satisfies them.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity at check-in. If you have less than 6 months remaining, they will deny boarding — no exceptions. Check your passport expiry date before booking anything.
No visa needed, but have your documents ready
You don't need to apply for anything in advance. Just show up with a valid passport, onward ticket, and accommodation booking. Immigration is straightforward for Singaporeans.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Print or save to your phone: passport info page, onward ticket, first night accommodation confirmation, and travel insurance card. Keep them in a single folder on your phone for quick access.
2
Arrive at Tocumen International Airport (PTY)
Follow signs to 'Migración' (Immigration). There are two queues: one for Panamanian citizens/residents, one for foreigners. Join the foreigners queue. Wait times vary from 10 to 45 minutes depending on flight arrivals.
3
Present your passport and documents
Hand over your passport and any requested documents. The officer will ask your purpose of visit, how long you're staying, and where you're staying. Answer clearly. They may ask to see your onward ticket.
4
Receive your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the number of days granted (usually 90). Check the stamp before walking away. If the number is wrong, ask for correction immediately.
5
Exit the arrivals hall
After immigration, collect your luggage (if any) and proceed through customs. There's a green channel (nothing to declare) and a red channel (goods to declare). If you have nothing to declare, walk through green.

Frequently asked questions

No. Panama does not allow extensions for visa-free visitors. You must leave before day 90. Overstaying can result in fines around $100–$200 and a re-entry ban of up to 3 years.
Only if you are arriving from a country with yellow fever risk (e.g., Brazil, Colombia, parts of Africa). Singapore is not on that list, so you don't need it. But if you've recently traveled to such a country, carry your vaccination certificate.
Yes. The land border with Costa Rica (at Paso Canoas) is open and straightforward. There is no land border with Colombia — the Darién Gap is impassable. You'd need to fly or take a boat.
You will likely be denied boarding by the airline. Even if you reach Panama, immigration can refuse entry. Renew your passport before traveling.
No. Panama does not require an electronic arrival declaration for Singapore passport holders. You just fill out the standard paper form on the plane or at immigration.
Technically, no. The visa-free entry is for tourism and business meetings only. However, Panama has a specific 'Short Stay Visa for Remote Workers' that allows up to 9 months. You must apply for that separately before arrival.
You'll be fined approximately $100–$200 at the airport when you leave. The fine is paid at the immigration office before departure. Overstaying more than 30 days can lead to a re-entry ban.
