Border officers routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Without one, you risk being refused entry at Minsk National Airport. A printed itinerary or e-ticket works.Recommended

Hotel booking or invitation
Immigration may ask for a hotel reservation or a notarized invitation letter from a Belarusian host. Have a printed booking confirmation ready to show at the border.Recommended

You need to show at least 50 EUR per day of stay in cash or bank statement. ATMs are available in Minsk but having cash in EUR or USD avoids any hassle.Recommended
Passport validity is strict
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Belarus. If it's even one day short, you'll be refused entry. Check your passport now, not at the airport.
Registration after 5 days
If you're staying more than 5 days, don't forget to register. Hotels do it automatically, but if you're in private accommodation, you need to visit the local migration office within 5 days of arrival. It's free and quick.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Minsk National Airport (MSQ)
Most visitors fly into Minsk. After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for Belarusian citizens and foreigners. Join the 'Foreign Passports' line.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport and any supporting documents (return ticket, accommodation proof) if asked. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in. This usually takes 2-5 minutes.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's a green channel for nothing to declare and a red channel for goods over €10,000 or restricted items.
4
Register your stay (if staying more than 5 days)
If you're staying longer than 5 days, you must register with the local migration office within 5 days of arrival. Hotels do this for you; if staying privately, you need to do it yourself at the nearest office.
