Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Colombia. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration officers at Bogotá and Medellín enforce it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Colombia
Immigration at Bogotá El Dorado and other airports routinely asks for proof of onward travel within 90 days. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host covers this.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient money for your stay
You may be asked to show you can support yourself. A bank statement or credit card with a reasonable limit usually satisfies the officer.Recommended
Check-Mig pre-registrationCheck-Mig: Colombia's mandatory online pre-registration form at migracioncolombia.gov.co. Complete it within 72 hours before your flight — it takes under 5 minutes.
Mandatory online form within 72 hours of departure
Colombia requires all travellers to complete the free Check-Mig form at migracioncolombia.gov.co within 72 hours before your flight. Fill it out online, save the confirmation, and have it ready on your phone or printed — airlines may ask to see it at check-in.Open Check-Mig formRequired
Check-Mig is mandatory — do it before your flight
The Check-Mig form is free and must be completed online within 72 hours of your arrival. Without it, you may be denied boarding or face delays at immigration. Save the confirmation on your phone.
Passport validity: 6 months from entry, not departure
Many travellers mistakenly count from their departure date. Colombia counts from the day you land. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before you go.

Frequently asked questions

No, the standard tourist visa-free stay is 90 days and cannot be extended. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a different visa type (e.g., a visitor visa) before your 90 days expire. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban.
You may be denied boarding by your airline or delayed at immigration. The form is mandatory and free. Fill it out at migracioncolombia.gov.co within 72 hours of your flight. Save the confirmation — you'll need to show it.
Not required for Slovenian passport holders entering from Europe. However, if you plan to visit certain regions (e.g., Amazon, Sierra Nevada), you may be asked for proof of vaccination. It's recommended to get it anyway — it's a one-time shot.
No. Immigration requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. If it's close to expiring, renew it before you travel. Airlines also check this before boarding.
No, there is no fee. The Check-Mig form is also free. You only pay if you overstay or need a visa extension (which isn't possible for the standard 90-day stay).
You need a specific visa (e.g., work visa, student visa) applied for at a Colombian consulate before travel. The visa-free entry is strictly for tourism or short business visits. Overstaying can lead to fines and future entry issues.
Not officially required for Slovenian passport holders, but it's smart to have a credit card or some cash (Colombian pesos) handy. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, showing a card or a few hundred dollars is enough.
