Slovenian passport holders can enter Cyprus without a visa for stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This has been the case since Cyprus joined the visa-free zone for EU nationals. Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for your entire stay in Cyprus
Your Slovenian passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay. Cyprus does not enforce a 6-month validity rule for EU citizens — just make sure it doesn't expire before you leave.Required
Return or onward ticket
Immigration may ask for proof of departure
Carry a printed or digital copy of your return flight or onward ticket. Cyprus border officers occasionally check this at passport control, especially if you arrive without a clear departure plan.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your hotel reservation, Airbnb confirmation, or a letter from your host ready. Immigration rarely asks EU citizens for this, but it helps if you're staying for more than a few days.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to funds. Cyprus does not publish a minimum amount, but having around €50–100 per day in available funds covers any questions.Recommended
Cyprus is not in Schengen
Even though Cyprus follows the 90/180 rule for EU nationals, it is not part of the Schengen Area. Your 90-day allowance in Cyprus is separate from your Schengen 90-day allowance. However, the 90 days in Cyprus count toward your total 90 days in the EU (including Schengen) under EU freedom of movement rules.
EU citizen rights
As a Slovenian citizen, you have the right to enter Cyprus with just a valid national ID card or passport. No visa is needed. You can also work or study without a visa, but you must register with local authorities if staying longer than 90 days.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Larnaca or Paphos airport
You'll go through EU passport control. For Slovenian passport holders, this is usually a quick scan and stamp. Have your passport and return ticket ready.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask how long you're staying and where. Answer clearly. They rarely ask for proof of funds for EU citizens, but have your return ticket and accommodation ready just in case.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, grab your bags from the carousel and walk through the green 'nothing to declare' channel if you have no goods to declare.
