If you hold a Slovenian passport, you can visit India for tourism, business, or medical purposes with an eVisa — no embassy visit needed. The eVisa is valid for up to 60 days and allows double entry. This option has been available since 2014 and remains the standard way to enter India in 2026.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Indian eVisa at indianvisaonline.gov.in at least 4 days before departure. Fees range from $25 to $80 USD depending on the visa type (tourist, business, medical). Approval typically comes within 72 hours — print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity
Your Slovenian passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival in India. Indian immigration officers strictly enforce this — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Indian airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return ticket or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
While not always checked, having a hotel booking or an invitation letter with an address helps speed up immigration. If you're staying with friends, carry their contact details and address.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay. Carry a recent bank statement or a credit card showing available funds — $300–$500 USD equivalent is a safe benchmark.Recommended
eVisa not valid at land borders
You cannot enter India from Nepal, Bhutan, or Bangladesh by road with an eVisa. You must fly into one of the designated airports. If you plan to cross by land, you'll need a regular visa from an Indian embassy.
Register with FRRO for stays over 180 days
If you plan to stay longer than 180 days (unlikely with an eVisa), you must register at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within 14 days of arrival. eVisa holders are limited to 60 days, so this mainly applies to other visa types.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to indianvisaonline.gov.in, fill in the application, upload a passport-style photo and your passport scan. Pay the fee (around $25–$100 depending on duration). Processing takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive eVisa approval
You'll get an email with your eVisa attached. Print it or save the PDF on your phone. Double-check your name and passport number match exactly.
3
Arrive at Indian airport
At major airports like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, or Chennai, go to the 'eVisa' counters. Have your passport, eVisa printout (or phone), and return ticket ready. The officer will take fingerprints and stamp your passport.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags and proceed through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel.
