Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Nigeria eVisa
Apply for a Nigeria eVisa at the Nigeria Immigration Service portal before you travel. The eVisa is a single-entry visa valid for up to 90 days. Processing takes 3–5 business days, and you'll need a digital passport photo and proof of yellow fever vaccination.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Slovenian passport
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Nigeria. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Lagos and Abuja airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary ready — they may deny entry if you can't show one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Nigeria. Immigration may ask for it at the border, especially if you're arriving without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a bank statement or enough cash (around $500 USD equivalent) to cover your stay. Officers occasionally ask to see proof of sufficient funds for the duration of your trip.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory
You must carry your yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) when entering Nigeria. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport at your own expense.
eVisa processing times vary
Apply at least 7–10 days before your flight. While 3–5 business days is typical, delays happen. Don't book non-refundable flights until you have the eVisa in hand.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Nigeria Immigration Service portal (portal.immigration.gov.ng). Create an account, fill in your personal and travel details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the visa fee online with a credit or debit card.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive an eVisa approval letter by email. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive. The letter includes a QR code.
3
Print or save the eVisa
Print a paper copy of the approval letter and also save a clear photo or PDF on your phone. Some airlines ask to see it at check-in.
4
Arrive at a Nigerian airport
At Lagos (LOS) or Abuja (ABV) airport, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'eVisa / Visa on Arrival'. Hand over your passport, eVisa letter, and return ticket. The officer will take your fingerprints and a photo, then stamp your passport.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. You may be asked to show your yellow fever vaccination card at customs. Then proceed to the arrival hall.
