Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the full period you plan to stay in Hong Kong. Hong Kong does not enforce a strict 6-month validity rule for Slovak passport holders, but airlines may ask for it at check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Hong Kong
Immigration officers at Hong Kong International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a copy of your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have access to enough cash or credit to cover your expenses. There is no fixed minimum, but showing a bank statement or credit card with a few thousand HKD is a safe bet.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. If it expires sooner, you will be refused boarding by the airline or denied entry at immigration. Renew your passport before you book.
Keep your departure stub
When you arrive, immigration will give you a small departure slip. Keep it with your passport — you'll need to hand it back when you leave Hong Kong. Losing it means extra paperwork at the airport.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Hong Kong International Airport
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Immigration'. There are separate queues for Hong Kong residents and visitors. Join the 'Visitors' queue.
2
Present your passport and boarding pass
Hand over your passport and boarding pass to the immigration officer. They may ask your purpose of visit and how long you plan to stay. Answer clearly and briefly.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay duration (usually 90 days). Check the stamp before leaving the counter.
4
Collect luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, collect your checked luggage from the carousel. Then walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no restricted items.
