Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your Slovak passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to be in Liechtenstein. Since Liechtenstein is in the Schengen zone, the 90/180-day rule applies across all Schengen countries — your total stay in the zone cannot exceed 90 days in any 180-day window.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Schengen area
Immigration officers at the border may ask for a return or onward ticket showing you'll leave the Schengen zone before your 90 days are up. Have a printed or digital copy ready — budget airlines sometimes check this at check-in too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation, hostel booking, or an invitation letter from your host in Liechtenstein. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays at the border.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card ready to show you have enough money for your stay. There's no fixed amount, but around €50–100 per day is a safe benchmark. Officers almost never check this for Slovak passport holders, but the rule exists.Recommended
No airport in Liechtenstein
You'll enter the Schengen area through a Swiss airport (usually Zurich). Liechtenstein has no border controls with Switzerland, so once you're in Switzerland, you're free to travel to Liechtenstein without additional checks.
90-day Schengen limit applies
Your stay in Liechtenstein counts toward the 90-day Schengen limit. If you've already spent time in other Schengen countries (e.g., Germany, France, Italy) in the past 180 days, subtract those days from your 90-day allowance.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the border
Liechtenstein does not have its own airport. You'll likely fly into Zurich Airport (Switzerland) and then take a train or drive to Liechtenstein. At Zurich, you'll go through Swiss immigration, which also handles Schengen entry. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready.
2
Present your documents
At the immigration counter, hand over your passport. The officer may ask about the purpose of your visit, how long you're staying, and where you're staying. Answer clearly and briefly. They might also ask to see your return ticket or hotel booking.
3
Get your entry stamp
If everything is in order, the officer will stamp your passport with the entry date. This stamp determines how long you can stay (up to 90 days in any 180-day period in the Schengen area). Check the stamp before leaving the counter.
4
Travel to Liechtenstein
Once you're in Switzerland, there are no border checks between Switzerland and Liechtenstein. You can take a train from Zurich to Sargans or Buchs, then a bus to Vaduz. No additional immigration procedures.
