Slovak passport holders can enter Ukraine without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This has been the case since 2017 and remains unchanged in 2026. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for your entire stay in Ukraine. No minimum validity period beyond your departure date is required by law, but airlines may enforce a 3-month validity rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Ukraine
Border officers at Boryspil and Lviv airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready. A bus or train ticket out of Ukraine also works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A hotel confirmation or a letter from a host with their address and phone number covers this.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers can request proof you have enough money for your stay. Carry a bank statement or credit card showing at least $50 USD per day of your trip. Cash in euros or dollars is also accepted.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you won't be allowed to fly — no exceptions.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save screenshots of your passport info page, return ticket, and accommodation booking on your phone. Also email copies to yourself. If your phone dies or gets lost, you can still access them.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before you fly
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date). Book your return/onward ticket and first night accommodation. Download or print confirmations. Get travel insurance and a local eSIM if you want data on arrival.
2
Arrive at any Ukrainian airport or land border
At airports like Kyiv Boryspil (KBP), Lviv (LWO), or Odesa (ODS), follow signs to 'Passport Control' for foreign nationals. At land borders from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, or Moldova, join the queue for non-Ukrainian passports.
3
Present your passport to the border officer
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your photo, validity, and may ask about your trip purpose, length of stay, and where you're staying. Answer briefly and honestly. They'll stamp your passport with your entry date and allowed stay.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim (if flying) then customs. Green channel if nothing to declare. You're now in Ukraine.
