Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Uganda eVisa at the official portal before departure. The eVisa is mandatory for Slovak passport holders — no visa on arrival available. Processing takes 3–5 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Uganda. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Entebbe Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed copy of your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you are arriving without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support your stay
Have a bank statement or credit card showing sufficient funds for your trip. Immigration may ask to see it if you look underprepared — $200–300 USD per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Apply early — don't wait until the last minute
eVisa processing can take 5 business days or longer. If you apply too close to your departure and it's delayed, you won't be allowed to board. Apply at least 2 weeks before your flight.
Keep your documents handy at Entebbe
After landing, you'll go through immigration before baggage claim. Have your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket ready. The queue moves fast, but being prepared saves time.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, create an account, fill in the application, upload your passport photo and passport scan, and pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa). Processing takes 2–5 business days.
2
Wait for approval
Check your email and the portal for the approval letter. Print it or save a PDF on your phone. Don't book non-refundable flights until you have it.
3
Pack your documents
Have your passport, eVisa approval, return ticket, and first-night hotel booking ready. Keep them in your carry-on, not checked luggage.
4
Arrive at Entebbe Airport
At Entebbe International Airport, go to the immigration counter. Present your passport and eVisa approval. They'll stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes.
5
Show your return ticket if asked
Immigration officers sometimes ask for proof of onward travel. Have your return ticket screenshot or printed copy ready.
