Slovak passport holders can enter Kosovo without a visa for stays up to 90 days within a 180-day period. This has been the case since 2010, and there are no plans to change it in 2026. Just show up at the border with your passport and you're good to go.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Slovak passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to be in Kosovo. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Kosovo authorities, but airlines may enforce a 3-month rule — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kosovo
Border officers at Pristina International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel. A printed reservation confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number covers you.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers rarely ask, but having a bank statement or credit card showing access to around €100 per day of stay avoids any hassle. Cash is not required — a card and a recent statement work fine.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Kosovo, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it before you go.
No visa needed — just show up
Slovak passport holders don't need a visa for Kosovo. You can stay up to 90 days within a 180-day period. No application, no fee, no paperwork.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the border
Whether you fly into Pristina International Airport or drive in from Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, or Albania, you'll join the queue for non-Kosovo passports. At Pristina airport, the line moves quickly — usually under 15 minutes.
2
Present your passport
Hand over your Slovak passport. The officer will check the validity and stamp it. They may ask how long you're staying and where you're staying. Answer clearly and briefly.
3
Show supporting documents if asked
If the officer asks for proof of onward travel or accommodation, show the booking on your phone. This is rare for Slovak passport holders, but have it ready.
4
Receive entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry. Check the stamp is legible before walking away. You're now allowed to stay up to 90 days.

Frequently asked questions

No. The 90-day visa-free stay is not extendable. If you want to stay longer, you must leave Kosovo and re-enter after a period outside the country. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban.
No. If you're just passing through the airport without leaving the transit area, you don't need a visa. But if you plan to leave the airport, even for a few hours, you need the same visa-free entry as any other visitor.
Technically, the rule says 6 months validity from your entry date. In practice, some border officers may be lenient, but it's risky. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before you travel to avoid being turned away.
Yes, Kosovo is generally safe for tourists. Petty crime like pickpocketing can happen in crowded areas, but violent crime against tourists is rare. The biggest risk is road safety — driving can be chaotic. Stick to taxis or ride-sharing apps in cities.
Kosovo uses the Euro (EUR), same as Slovakia. You can pay with euros everywhere. ATMs are widely available in cities, but carry some cash for rural areas or small shops.
No mandatory vaccinations for Kosovo. Standard travel vaccinations (hepatitis A, typhoid) are recommended if you're eating street food or staying in rural areas. Check with your doctor 4-6 weeks before travel.
Yes, your Slovak driving licence is valid in Kosovo for up to 90 days. No international driving permit is needed. Just carry your licence and passport when driving.
