What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-visa online
Go to evisa.gov.az, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $20-25 USD). Processing takes 3-5 business days. You'll receive the visa by email as a PDF.
2
Prepare your documents before departure
Print or save on your phone: the approved e-visa, your passport (check the 6-month validity), return flight booking, and first-night hotel confirmation. Also grab travel insurance and an eSIM if you want them.
3

After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport, printed e-visa, and return ticket ready. The officer may ask about your accommodation and purpose of visit. Answer clearly and briefly.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
Once your passport is stamped, proceed to baggage claim. After collecting your bags, walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no goods to declare. You're now in Azerbaijan.

Frequently asked questions

No. There is no visa on arrival for Senegalese citizens. You must apply for an e-visa online before you travel. The official portal is evisa.gov.az.
Standard processing takes 3 to 5 business days. There is no express option for Senegalese applicants, so apply at least a week before your trip to be safe.
The fee is approximately $20-25 USD, payable online by credit or debit card. The exact amount in your local currency will depend on the exchange rate at the time of payment.
A printed copy is safest — some immigration officers prefer paper. But a clear screenshot or PDF on your phone is usually accepted. Have it ready before you reach the counter.
You will be denied boarding or entry. Renew your passport before applying for the visa. The 6-month validity is strictly enforced.
Yes. You need proof of onward travel — a flight out of Azerbaijan to any destination. A one-way ticket into Azerbaijan without a confirmed exit will likely be rejected.
It is not officially required at immigration, but it's strongly recommended. Medical costs for even minor issues can be high, and insurance covers you for trip cancellations or lost luggage too.
