Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Mongolia eVisa at evisa.mn. Processing takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Chinggis Khaan Airport checks it before issuing the entry stamp.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Mongolia does not enforce a 6-month validity rule — it just needs to cover your stay. Airlines may still ask for 6 months, so check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Mongolia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket at the border. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight out of Mongolia ready. Overland exit plans are not accepted — you need a flight booking.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Mongolia. Immigration may ask where you are staying on arrival. A simple booking.com confirmation works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to roughly $50 USD per day. Officers rarely ask for it, but if they do, a credit card and a few hundred dollars in cash covers the requirement.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no exceptions
Senegalese passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival. You must apply and receive approval before your flight. Airlines check this before boarding.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa, passport, and hotel booking as PDFs on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose your passport, these make replacement much faster.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.mn, fill out the application, upload a passport photo and your passport scan, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Pack your documents
Print your eVisa approval, keep your passport, return ticket, and hotel booking easily accessible in your carry-on.
3
Arrive at Ulaanbaatar airport
At Chinggis Khaan International Airport (UBN), go to the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly.
4
Get your entry stamp
Once approved, the officer stamps your passport. Check the stamp shows the correct entry date and allowed stay. Keep the eVisa with you during your trip.
