Apply online before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Papua New Guinea. Apply at the Immigration and Citizenship Authority portal. Processing takes a few business days — do not book non-refundable flights until you have the approval.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your Senegalese passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your intended departure date from Papua New Guinea. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Papua New Guinea
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. Without it, you may be refused entry at Port Moresby airport.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have bank statements or a credit card ready. Officers may ask how you will support yourself during your visit. A few hundred kina in cash (or equivalent in USD) helps show you are not stranded.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination required
Senegal is a yellow fever endemic country. Papua New Guinea requires a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate if you're arriving from Senegal. Without it, you may be quarantined or refused entry. Get the vaccine at least 10 days before travel.
eVisa is mandatory — no exceptions
There is no visa waiver or visa-on-arrival for Senegalese passport holders. You must have an approved eVisa before you board your flight. Airlines will check this at check-in.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Papua New Guinea eVisa website (if available) or use the government's immigration portal. Fill in your personal details, passport info, travel dates, and upload a passport-style photo. Pay the fee (typically around $50–$100 USD, depending on processing time). Submit and wait for approval — processing can take 3–10 business days.
2
Print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print at least one copy and save a digital version on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
At the airport in Senegal, the airline will check your eVisa, passport validity, and onward ticket. Have them ready in a folder. If you're transiting through Australia or another country, check their transit visa requirements too.
4
Arrive at Port Moresby (or other entry point)
At Jacksons International Airport (POM), follow signs to immigration. Present your passport, eVisa, and return ticket. The officer may ask about your accommodation and purpose of visit. Answer clearly. You'll get a stamp allowing entry for the duration of your eVisa.
