Valid passport
Must be valid on arrival
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Uganda. Carry a photocopy of the bio-data page as backup.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure

Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Officers rarely ask, but it helps if questioned.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry bank statements or a credit card showing you have enough funds for your stay. No fixed amount is published, but $50–$100 per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine required
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport at your own expense.
eVisa is linked to your passport
The eVisa approval is tied to the passport number you used in the application. If you renew your passport after getting the eVisa, you'll need to apply again with the new passport.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Uganda eVisa portal (visas.immigration.go.ug). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa) with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get an email with a PDF approval letter. Print it out and also save a copy on your phone. The letter has a QR code that immigration will scan on arrival.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Visa/Immigration'. Join the queue for 'eVisa holders' — it's usually faster than the visa-on-arrival line. Hand over your passport, eVisa approval letter, and return ticket. The officer will take your fingerprints and a photo, then stamp you in.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green channel. You're free to go.
