Thai passport holders need an eVisa to enter Azerbaijan. The process is entirely online: you apply before you travel, and the approved visa is sent to your email. As of 2026, the eVisa allows a single entry for tourism or business.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Azerbaijan eVisa at evisa.gov.az at least 3 working days before departure. The eVisa is a single-entry permit valid for 30 days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Thai passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Azerbaijan. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Baku Heydar Aliyev Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your departure from Azerbaijan within the eVisa's validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Azerbaijan. Border officers may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or cash showing at least 20,000 THB or equivalent. Officers rarely check this for short stays, but it helps if questioned about your ability to cover expenses.Recommended
eVisa is single-entry only
The Azerbaijan eVisa allows one entry. If you leave the country (even for a day trip to Georgia), you'll need a new visa to re-enter.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Azerbaijan, not from when you apply. Double-check before booking flights.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Azerbaijan eVisa portal (evisa.gov.az). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee. Processing takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive the approved visa as a PDF by email.
2
Print or save the eVisa
Print a paper copy of the eVisa and also save it on your phone. Border officers at Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport will ask to see it along with your passport.
3
Arrive and go through immigration
At Baku airport, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket if asked. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through. The whole process usually takes 5–10 minutes.
