Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your entry date into Brunei. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Brunei
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket within your 14-day visa-free stay. Budget airlines flying into Brunei are especially strict about this before they issue a boarding pass.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a printed or digital hotel reservation ready. Immigration may ask where you are staying, and a booking confirmation shows you have a place for your visit.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Carry at least 500 BND (or equivalent in cash) or a recent bank statement. Officers can ask to see you have enough money for your stay, though this is rarely checked for short visits.Recommended
Overstay penalties are steep
Brunei charges BND 100 per day for overstaying, and you may be banned from re-entry. Set a reminder to leave before day 14.
No arrival card needed
Unlike many other countries, Brunei does not require an arrival declaration or online form for Thai passport holders. Just your passport and onward ticket.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Brunei International Airport (BWN)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' for foreign passport holders. There are separate queues for ASEAN and non-ASEAN nationals — as a Thai passport holder, use the ASEAN lane if available. Have your passport and return ticket ready.
2
Present documents at immigration counter
Hand over your passport and any requested documents (return ticket, hotel booking). The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in. The process usually takes 2–5 minutes.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's no arrival card or online declaration required for Thai passport holders.
