What happens at the border

1
Apply for the visa online
Go to evisa.mae.ro/en, create an account, fill in the application form, and upload scanned copies of your passport, photo, flight itinerary, accommodation booking, bank statements, and travel insurance. Pay the visa fee (around €80 for a short-stay visa) by card.
2
Attend embassy appointment
After submitting online, book an appointment at the Romanian Embassy in Bangkok. Bring your original passport, printed application form, supporting documents, and two passport-sized photos. You'll be interviewed briefly and your biometrics (fingerprints) will be taken.
3
Wait for visa processing
Processing usually takes 10–15 working days. You'll be notified by email when your passport is ready for collection or courier delivery. Check the status online using your application reference number.
4
Arrive in Romania
At the airport (usually Bucharest Otopeni or Cluj-Napoca), join the 'All Passports' queue. Present your passport with the visa sticker, return ticket, and accommodation proof. The officer may ask about your itinerary — answer clearly. You'll get an entry stamp valid for up to 90 days.
