Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for your Togo eVisa at the official government portal at least 72 hours before departure. The eVisa is valid for single entry and allows stays up to 15 days. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport — immigration at Lomé Airport will check it before stamping you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Togo. Airlines at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang enforce this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration at Lomé Airport will ask to see a confirmed return or onward flight ticket before they let you through. Budget airlines flying into Togo also check this at check-in — have a printed copy or a screenshot ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host ready. Immigration officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A printed booking confirmation works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Carry at least 200,000 CFA francs (about 11,000 THB) in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration can ask to see proof you can support yourself during your stay — having cash in euros or dollars is also accepted.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport — at your own expense.
No visa-on-arrival for Thai passport holders
Despite what some travel blogs say, Thai nationals cannot get a visa on arrival in Togo. The only option is the eVisa, applied for online before you fly.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.tg, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around 30,000 XOF, roughly $50 USD) by credit card. Processing takes 3–7 business days.
2
Receive and print eVisa PDF
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print a copy and save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Lomé.
3
Arrive at Lomé–Tokoin Airport (LFW)
After landing, go to the immigration hall. Join the queue for 'eVisa holders'. Present your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. They may ask for your accommodation address. The officer stamps you in — usually for up to 30 days.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. There's a customs checkpoint — declare anything over 500,000 XOF (about $800 USD) in value. Then you're free to exit into the arrivals hall.
