Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Apply for a Ukraine visa
You need a visa before traveling to Ukraine. Apply at the nearest Ukrainian embassy or consulate — there is no eVisa option for Thai passport holders. Processing takes 5–10 working days depending on the visa type.Check visa requirementsRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Ukraine. No minimum validity beyond that is required by Ukrainian law, but airlines may ask for at least 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Border officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at passport control. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they check this before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel reservation, rental agreement, or a notarized invitation letter from a Ukrainian host ready to show.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers can request proof you have enough money for your stay. Carry bank statements or a credit card showing at least 20,000 UAH (around 20,000 THB) for a short trip.Recommended
No visa-free entry for Thai passport holders
You cannot enter Ukraine without an approved e-Visa. Border officers will not issue one on arrival. Apply online before you fly.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your visa approval, passport bio page, return ticket, and accommodation booking as PDFs on your phone. If you lose your passport, these make replacement much faster.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your e-Visa online
Go to evisa.gov.ua/en/, fill out the form, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee and wait for approval — typically 3–7 business days.
2
Pack your documents
Print or save to your phone: the approved visa email, your passport, return ticket, accommodation booking, and insurance policy. Keep them in a single folder for quick access.
3
Arrive at a Ukrainian airport
At Boryspil (Kyiv) or Lviv airport, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and visa approval. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation — show the documents calmly.
4
Receive your entry stamp
Once cleared, the officer stamps your passport with the entry date. Check the stamp says the correct date before walking away. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it when leaving.
