Thai passport holders need an eVisa to enter Uganda in 2026. The process is entirely online, and you must have your approval letter printed before you travel. Plan ahead — processing can take up to a week.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Uganda eVisa
Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official portal before departure. The eVisa is mandatory for Thai passport holders — you cannot get a visa on arrival at Entebbe Airport. Processing takes 2–5 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond your intended stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Uganda. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Entebbe will ask for proof of a return or onward flight out of Uganda. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your itinerary ready — they rarely accept verbal explanations.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Immigration may ask where you are staying, and having a booking speeds up the process.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or card for your stay
Have at least $200 USD in cash or a credit card with available balance. Officers rarely check this for short visits, but it helps if they ask about your financial means.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine required
You must show proof of yellow fever vaccination (the yellow card) when you arrive. No card = possible quarantine or denial of entry. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
Print your eVisa approval
Airlines often check for the eVisa approval letter at check-in. A digital copy on your phone may not be accepted. Print it in colour and keep it with your passport.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, create an account, fill in the application, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa) by credit card. Processing takes 3–7 business days.
2
Receive and print the approval letter
Once approved, you'll get a PDF via email. Print it in colour — some airlines check at check-in. Keep a digital copy on your phone as backup.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
Join the 'eVisa' queue at immigration. Hand over your passport, printed approval letter, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. Have your hotel address ready if asked.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Usually straightforward — just declare any large amounts of cash or restricted goods.
