Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire period you plan to stay in Vanuatu. Vanuatu does not enforce a strict 6-month validity rule beyond your departure date, but airlines may still ask for it at check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Vanuatu
Immigration officers at Port Vila and Santo airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket before granting entry. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed or digital copy of your hotel reservation, hostel booking, or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Immigration may ask how you plan to fund your trip. Have a bank statement, credit card, or cash (around 50,000 VUV equivalent) accessible. No fixed minimum is published, but showing you have means to cover accommodation and food works.Recommended
No visa, no fee, no form
Vanuatu is one of the easiest destinations for Thai passport holders. No visa application, no fee, no online form. Just show up with a valid passport and a return ticket.
Passport validity is critical
The 6-month validity rule is strictly enforced. If your passport expires in less than 6 months from your arrival date, you will be denied boarding. Check your passport now.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport
Fly into Bauerfield International Airport (Port Vila) or Santo-Pekoa International Airport (Luganville). You'll go through immigration after baggage claim.
2

Join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, return ticket (printed or on phone), and accommodation booking ready. The officer will stamp you in — no fee, no form to fill.
3

The officer will stamp your passport with a visitor permit valid for up to 120 days. Check the stamp says the correct date before you walk away.
4
