Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Zimbabwe eVisa at the official eVisa portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days — do not wait until the last minute. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport to present at immigration.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Thai passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Zimbabwe. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Zimbabwe
Immigration officers at Harare and Victoria Falls airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. Without one, you may be refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask where you are staying — having the address and contact number ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card showing access to at least $500 USD equivalent. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to prove you are not working illegally.Recommended
eVisa is the only option
There is no visa on arrival for Thai passport holders. You must apply online at www.evisa.gov.zw before you fly. Processing takes 3–7 business days, so don't leave it to the last minute.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Zimbabwe, not from your departure date. If it's close to expiring, renew it before applying.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to www.evisa.gov.zw, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (USD 30–60 depending on visa type) by credit card. Processing takes 3–7 business days. You'll receive an approval letter by email — print it or save it on your phone.
2
Prepare your documents
Before you fly, gather: passport with 6+ months validity, printed eVisa approval, return/onward ticket, first night hotel booking, and travel insurance details. Keep them in a folder or on your phone for quick access.
3
Arrive at Zimbabwe airport
At Harare (HRE) or Victoria Falls (VFA), head to immigration. Hand over your passport and eVisa approval. They'll check your passport validity, stamp you in, and you're good. No visa-on-arrival queue — you already have approval.
4
Exit immigration and collect luggage
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim. There's no secondary check for eVisa holders. Then exit into the arrivals hall.

Frequently asked questions

No. Zimbabwe does not offer visa on arrival for Thai nationals. You must apply for an eVisa online before you travel.
Typically 3 to 7 business days. Apply at least 2 weeks before your trip to be safe. The fee is USD 30–60 depending on the visa type (single entry or multiple entry).
Rejections are rare but can happen if your documents are incomplete or your passport has less than 6 months validity. You can reapply with corrected information. There's no refund of the fee.
If you're arriving from a country with yellow fever risk (e.g., parts of Africa or South America), you need a yellow fever certificate. Thailand is not a yellow fever country, so if you fly direct from Thailand, you don't need it. But if you transit through a risk country, get the vaccine.
The eVisa is not extendable. You must leave before it expires. If you need a longer stay, apply for a different visa type (e.g., multiple entry) before you travel.
Overstaying can result in a fine (around USD 10–20 per day) and possible entry ban. Always leave before your visa expires.
Not officially required, but it's smart to have a bank statement or credit card available if asked. Immigration rarely asks, but it's better to be prepared.
