Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Apply for a Russian visa
Tunisian passport holders need a visa to enter Russia. Apply through the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa portal at kdmid.ru. Processing takes 10–20 working days, and you'll need a valid passport, photo, and an invitation letter from a Russian host or hotel.Apply for visaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Russia. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Russian law, but airlines may enforce 6 months validity — check with your carrier before booking.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Russia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary ready at passport control.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
You need a confirmed hotel reservation or a notarized invitation letter from your Russian host. This is checked during the visa application process and may be requested at the border.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient money for your stay
Carry evidence of at least 500 USD per day of your stay, or a bank statement showing available funds. Immigration may ask to see this if you look under-resourced.Recommended
Visa required — apply well in advance
Tunisian passport holders cannot enter Russia without a visa. No visa-on-arrival or e-visa option exists. Start your application at least 6 weeks before your planned departure to avoid delays.
Keep your migration card safe
When you enter Russia, you'll receive a migration card. The smaller tear-off portion must be kept with you at all times — you'll need to hand it back when you leave. Losing it can cause problems at departure.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your visa online
Go to evisa.kdmid.ru and fill out the visa application form. Choose the visa type (tourist, business, etc.) and enter your travel dates. You'll need to upload a passport-style photo and your passport data page. Submit and pay the fee online.
2
Submit documents at the embassy or visa centre
After online submission, you must visit the Russian Embassy in Tunis or a visa application centre in person. Bring your printed application, passport, photo, and any supporting documents (hotel booking, flight itinerary). Processing takes 10–20 working days.
3
Collect your visa and prepare for arrival
Once approved, you'll get a visa sticker in your passport. Check the dates and entry/exit limits carefully. Before you fly, download offline maps and a translation app — English is not widely spoken outside major cities.
4
Arrive in Russia and go through immigration
At passport control, hand over your passport with the visa sticker. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. They'll stamp your migration card — keep the smaller tear-off portion with you for your entire stay. You'll need it when you leave.

Overstaying even by one day can lead to a fine of 2,000–5,000 RUB, and you may be banned from re-entering Russia for up to 5 years. Always leave before your visa expires.
