Turkish passport holders need an eVisa to enter Benin in 2026. The process is entirely online — apply before you travel, get approval by email, and present it at immigration in Cotonou or at a land border. No visa on arrival is available for Turkish citizens.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Benin eVisa
Apply online at the official Benin eVisa portal before you travel. The eVisa is mandatory for Turkish passport holders — you cannot get a visa on arrival at Cotonou Airport. Processing usually takes 2–3 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Benin does not officially require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but airlines sometimes enforce it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Cotonou Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready — they may check it before letting you through.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration rarely asks for it, but having it ready avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash, card, or bank statement
Have a bank statement or a credit card showing you can cover your stay. There is no fixed minimum amount, but showing at least $200–$300 for a short trip is a safe bet.Recommended
No visa on arrival for Turkish citizens
You must have an approved eVisa before you travel. There is no option to get a visa at the airport or land border. Airlines will check this before letting you board.
Yellow fever vaccination required
All travellers aged 1 year and older must have a yellow fever vaccination. Carry your International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow card) — immigration may ask to see it on arrival.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.bj/en/, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around 30,000 XOF, roughly €45) by credit card. You'll get a confirmation email within 72 hours.
2
Print the eVisa approval
Once approved, you receive a PDF by email. Print two copies — one to hand over at immigration, one as backup. Also save it on your phone.
3
Arrive at the border
At Cotonou Airport (or any land border), join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket if asked. The officer stamps you in — usually takes 2–5 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel (if flying), then proceed to customs. Use the green channel if you have nothing to declare. You're in.
