Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least the length of your stay in Belize. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Belize
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the border. Without one, you may be refused entry or required to buy a ticket on the spot. A printed or digital copy works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your first night's hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least $100 USD per day of your stay. Belize immigration can ask for proof of sufficient funds at the border.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity before boarding. If you have less than 6 months left, you won't be allowed to fly. Renew early.
No visa, no fee
You don't pay anything for entry. No visa application, no visa fee, no eVisa. Just show up with your passport and a return ticket.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Belize airport
You'll land at Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City. Follow signs to Immigration. There's usually one queue for all non-Belizean visitors.
2
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport, completed arrival card (given on the plane), and return ticket if asked. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in. This takes 2-5 minutes.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, grab your bags from the carousel. Customs is usually a quick walk-through unless you're carrying restricted items. Then you're free to go.
