Turkish passport holders need a visa to enter Cyprus. You must apply in advance at a Cypriot embassy or consulate — there is no visa-on-arrival or e-visa option. Processing can take several weeks, so plan ahead.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Visa required
You need a visa before traveling to Cyprus. Apply at the Cyprus Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa portal — the online application system is at www.mfa.gov.cy/en/visas/. Processing takes 5–15 working days depending on the embassy.Apply for visaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Turkish passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cyprus. Cyprus does not enforce the 6-month rule for Turkish passports, but airlines may check it — carry your passport with at least 3 months validity to avoid boarding issues.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Larnaca and Paphos airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from your host in Cyprus. Officers may ask for it if you look like you're staying with friends or family — have a copy on your phone or printed.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Bank statements or a credit card showing you can support yourself during the stay. No fixed amount is published, but having at least €50–€100 per day in accessible funds avoids delays.Recommended
Northern Cyprus vs. Republic of Cyprus
Turkish passport holders can enter Northern Cyprus visa-free for up to 90 days. But crossing into the Republic of Cyprus (the EU-controlled south) requires a valid visa. If you plan to visit both sides, get the visa beforehand.
Apply early — no rush options
There is no expedited or premium visa service for Cyprus. Standard processing takes 2–4 weeks, so apply at least a month in advance. Last-minute travel is risky.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Gather all required documents: valid passport, completed application form, photos, accommodation proof, flight booking, travel insurance, and bank statements. Make copies of everything.
2
Submit your application
Submit your visa application at the Cypriot embassy or consulate in Turkey (Ankara is the main one). You may need to book an appointment online. Pay the visa fee — around €80 for adults, less for children.
3
Wait for processing
Processing typically takes 15–30 days. Apply at least 4–6 weeks before your planned travel. You may be called for an interview.
4
Collect your visa
Once approved, collect your passport with the visa sticker. Check the dates and details are correct before leaving the embassy.
5
Enter Cyprus
At the border (Larnaca or Paphos airport), present your passport with the visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly and honestly.
