Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Libya. No minimum validity beyond departure is required, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration at Tripoli and Benghazi airports routinely asks for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or digital booking ready.Required
Proof of accommodation

Border officers may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their contact details works.Recommended

Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa, passport, and bookings as PDFs on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose your phone, you'll still have access.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the Libyan eVisa portal (if available) or contact the nearest Libyan embassy. Fill out the application, upload your passport scan and photo, and pay the fee. Processing can take several days to a few weeks.
2
Wait for approval
Check your email regularly. Once approved, you'll receive an eVisa document. Print a copy and save a digital version on your phone.
3
Prepare your documents
Gather your passport (6+ months validity), printed eVisa, return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in a folder you can grab quickly.
4
Arrive at Libyan airport
At Tripoli Mitiga or Benghazi airport, proceed to immigration. Present your passport and eVisa. They may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly and calmly.
5
