Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for your Togo eVisa at evisa.gouv.tg at least 72 hours before departure. The eVisa is valid for single entry and allows stays up to 30 days. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport — immigration at Lomé Airport will check it before stamping you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Togo. Airlines at Istanbul Airport enforce this strictly — they will deny boarding if your passport expires sooner.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Togo
Immigration officers at Lomé Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. Overland departures are less common but the same rule applies.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask for it if you look uncertain about where you're staying. A booking confirmation from Booking.com or Airbnb works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or a credit card showing at least $500 USD available. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to show you're not arriving broke. Cash in euros or dollars is also accepted.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have a yellow fever vaccination at least 10 days before travel and carry the International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow card). Immigration officers at Lomé Airport will ask to see it. No card, no entry.
eVisa is required before boarding
Airlines will check that you have an approved eVisa before they let you board. Don't rely on getting one at the airport — it's not possible. Apply online at evisa.gouv.tg at least a week before your flight.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.tg, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around 30,000 XOF, roughly €45). Processing usually takes 2–3 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF.
2
Print or save your eVisa
Print a copy of the eVisa email and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at the immigration desk at Lomé–Tokoin Airport.
3
Arrive at Lomé Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'. Have your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through. The whole process usually takes 10–15 minutes if you have everything ready.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel, then walk through customs. There's usually no baggage check for tourists, but don't bring prohibited items.
