Rules worth knowing

Currency Declaration Threshold in EUR

Comoros uses EUR 10,000 as the cash declaration threshold, not USD. Travelers carrying EUR 10,000 or more (or equivalent in any currency, including KMF) must declare it on the customs form. Failure to declare can result in seizure and fines.

Duty-Free Allowance in Local Currency

The duty-free allowance for personal goods is set at 100,000 KMF (Comorian francs), not USD. This is roughly USD 220. Customs officers may assess the value of goods at their discretion, so keep receipts handy.

Strict Prohibition on Narcotics

Comoros has zero tolerance for drug trafficking. Penalties for possession or import of even small amounts of narcotics include long prison sentences and heavy fines. Do not attempt to bring any illegal substances.
