Kuwait customs rules & duty-free allowances
Kuwait enforces a total ban on alcohol and pork imports for all travelers. In 2026, non-residents may bring personal goods up to 250 KWD (approx. USD 815) duty-free. Cash or equivalent monetary instruments exceeding 3,000 KWD (approx. USD 9,800) must be declared. Residents returning have a lower duty-free allowance of 150 KWD (approx. USD 490).

Prohibited — banned from import
- Alcoholic beverages and all intoxicating substances
- Pork and pork products (including ham, bacon, sausages, and any food containing pork)
- Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (except with prior medical authorization)
- Firearms, ammunition, and explosives (except with official permit from Ministry of Interior)
- Pornographic materials (including videos, magazines, digital media)
- Items bearing Israeli logos, labels, or made in Israel
Restricted — allowed with a permit or declaration
- Medicines containing controlled substances (must have a valid prescription and prior approval from Ministry of Health)
- Live animals (require import permit from Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources)
- Plants and plant products (require phytosanitary certificate and permit)
- Satellite phones and radio transmitters (require approval from Ministry of Communications)
- Drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (require permit from Directorate General of Civil Aviation)
