Venezuela customs rules & duty-free allowances
Venezuela permits duty-free import of personal goods up to USD 800, with a strict combined alcohol limit of 2 liters (must be 18+). Tobacco allowance is 200 cigarettes OR 50 cigars OR 250g tobacco (no mixing). Cash over USD 10,000 must be declared. Narcotics, unregistered firearms, and certain food items are prohibited or restricted. These rules apply as of 2026.

Rules worth knowing
Currency declaration
All travellers entering Venezuela must declare any amount of cash or negotiable instruments exceeding USD 10,000 (or equivalent in bolivars or other currencies) on the customs declaration form. Failure to declare can result in confiscation and fines.
Temporary import of vehicles
Vehicles entering Venezuela temporarily must have a valid Carnet de Passages en Douane or a temporary import permit. The vehicle must leave the country within the authorized period, typically 90 days.
Food products
Fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy products are generally prohibited unless accompanied by a sanitary certificate from the origin country. Processed and packaged foods for personal consumption are allowed in small quantities.
Duty-free shopping
Duty-free purchases made at the airport or on the plane are included in the USD 800 personal goods allowance. Any excess is subject to duty.
