Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for your entire stay in Estonia
Your Taiwan passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Estonia. Schengen area rules do not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date — just enough to cover your trip. Airlines sometimes enforce 6 months anyway, so check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Border officers at Tallinn Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Have a printed or digital copy ready. If you're continuing to another non-Schengen country, a flight booking to that destination works.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a letter from a friend/host with their address and contact details. A simple printout or phone screen works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
You might be asked to show you have enough money for your trip. Estonia doesn't publish a fixed amount, but having around €50–€70 per day in cash or a bank statement with a few hundred euros is a safe bet. A credit card with a decent limit also works.Recommended
90-day Schengen limit applies
Your 90-day visa-free stay in Estonia counts toward the total 90 days allowed in the entire Schengen area. If you've already spent time in France, Germany, or other Schengen countries, that time is deducted from your 90-day allowance.
Travel insurance recommended
While not always checked at the border, travel insurance covering medical emergencies (minimum €30,000) is strongly recommended. Hospital stays in Estonia can cost hundreds of euros per day.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Tallinn Airport or land border
You'll go through Schengen border control. For flights, join the 'All Passports' queue. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready. The officer will stamp your passport with entry date and allowed stay.
2
Present documents at the booth
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask: purpose of visit, length of stay, where you're staying, and proof of onward travel. Answer clearly and concisely. They rarely ask for more than passport and return ticket.
3
Receive entry stamp and proceed
Once approved, you'll get an entry stamp. That's it. You're now in Estonia for up to 90 days. Keep your passport safe — you'll need it for hotel check-ins and any police checks.
