What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Ghana Immigration Service eVisa portal (evisa.immigration.gov.gh) and create an account. Fill out the application form with your passport details, travel dates, and accommodation info. Upload your passport photo and supporting documents. Pay the fee online with a credit/debit card.
2
Wait for approval
Standard processing takes up to 96 hours (about 4 business days). You'll receive an email notification once your eVisa is approved. The eVisa is sent as a PDF — print it out and keep a digital copy on your phone.
3
Pack your documents
Print your eVisa approval, yellow fever certificate, flight itinerary, and hotel booking. Keep them together in a folder in your carry-on. You'll need to show them at check-in and again at immigration in Accra.
4
Arrive at Kotoka International Airport (ACC)
After landing in Accra, follow the signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'Visitors' or 'Foreigners'. Present your passport, eVisa printout, yellow fever certificate, and return ticket. The officer will check your details, take your fingerprints, and stamp your passport. You'll then proceed to baggage claim and customs.
5
Enter Ghana
Once stamped, you're free to enter. The whole process usually takes 20-40 minutes depending on queues. Keep your passport safe — you'll need it for hotel check-ins and any domestic travel.
