Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Taiwan passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Hong Kong. Hong Kong does not require 6 months of remaining validity — just that the passport is valid on the day you enter and during your stay.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Hong Kong
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward flight booking at the counter. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound ticket ready — they check this at the primary inspection booth.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Hong Kong. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have access to enough cash or credit to cover your expenses in Hong Kong. Immigration may ask how you plan to fund your trip — a credit card or bank statement works fine.Recommended
No arrival card needed
Taiwan passport holders do not need to fill out any arrival declaration or landing card. Just walk up to the immigration counter with your passport.
6-month passport validity is strictly enforced
Hong Kong immigration will deny entry if your passport expires within 6 months of your arrival date. Check your passport now — if it's close, renew before you book.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG)
After landing, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Immigration'. There are separate queues for Hong Kong residents and visitors. Join the 'Visitors' queue — it's usually clearly marked in English and Chinese.
2
Present your passport and ticket
Hand your passport to the immigration officer. They may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details. Answer clearly. The officer will stamp your passport and tell you your allowed stay (usually 30 days).
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There are no arrival forms to fill out for Taiwan passport holders. You're free to enter Hong Kong.
