Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official portal at least 2 weeks before departure. The standard single-entry tourist eVisa costs $50 USD and is usually processed within 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will stamp the visa on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity
Your Taiwan passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Uganda. Immigration at Entebbe checks this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding or entry.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Entebbe International Airport routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready — they will not let you through without it.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Immigration may ask where you are staying, and having a booking ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card
Have at least $200 USD in cash or a credit card statement showing available funds. Immigration can ask for proof you can support yourself during your stay — a bank statement or ATM receipt works.Recommended
eVisa required — no visa on arrival
Taiwan passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Uganda. You must have an approved eVisa before you board your flight. Airlines will check this at check-in.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Uganda, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Uganda eVisa portal (visas.immigration.go.ug). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa) with a credit card. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in Uganda.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'eVisa holders'. Present your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. There's a customs check for goods to declare. Then you're free to exit the arrivals hall.
