Taiwan passport holders need an eVisa to enter Zambia. The application is done entirely online before you travel, and approval usually takes a few business days. As of 2026, this is the standard entry method for tourism or short business visits.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply for Zambia eVisa
Apply online at the Zambia eVisa portal before you fly. Processing takes 3–5 working days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email — print it and carry it with your passport. The eVisa is single-entry and costs around $50 USD.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months
Your passport needs at least two blank pages and must be valid for six months beyond your intended departure date from Zambia. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration at Lusaka will turn you away if it's close to expiring.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport asks for a confirmed onward ticket — either a return flight or a ticket to your next destination. Budget airlines and check-in agents enforce this strictly before issuing a boarding pass.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host ready. Immigration officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card
Carry evidence of at least $500 USD or equivalent in cash, traveler's cheques, or a credit card statement. Officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay.Recommended
eVisa is the only reliable option
Don't rely on visa on arrival — the eVisa is the official method for Taiwanese passport holders. Apply online at least a week before your trip.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you land in Zambia, not from when you apply for the eVisa. Double-check before booking flights.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Zambia eVisa portal (evisa.zambiaimmigration.gov.zm). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Select 'Tourism' or 'Business' as the purpose. Pay the fee (around $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa) with a credit card. Processing takes 3–5 business days on average.
2
Receive and print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get an email with a PDF attachment. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show this at check-in and on arrival in Zambia.
3
Arrive at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (Lusaka)
Most flights from Taiwan connect through Dubai, Doha, or Addis Ababa. At Lusaka airport, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Have your passport, eVisa printout, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready. The officer will stamp you in — usually for up to 30 days.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually a quick bag scan. Exit into the arrivals hall where taxis and ride-hailing services are available.

A single-entry tourist eVisa costs around $50 USD. You pay online by credit card during the application. Double-entry and multiple-entry options cost more.

Zambia requires a yellow fever vaccination certificate if you're arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever. Taiwan is not on that list, so you generally don't need it unless you've recently traveled to an affected country. Check the latest WHO list before you go.
Technically yes, but it's not recommended for Taiwanese passport holders. The eVisa is faster, cheaper, and avoids long queues. Visa on arrival can be unpredictable and may require extra documents.
Rejections are rare but can happen if your documents are incomplete or your passport has less than 6 months validity. You can reapply with corrected information. There's no appeal process — just submit a new application.
It's not a formal requirement for Taiwanese passport holders, but immigration officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay. Having a credit card or a few hundred USD in cash is a good idea.
