Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Cameroon. Apply at the official eVisa portal — processing takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Tanzanian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Cameroon. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration at Douala and Yaoundé airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone — a booking confirmation with a PNR is fine.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Cameroon. Immigration officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or cash equivalent to at least 200,000 XAF (~$330 USD) for a short stay. Officers rarely ask, but it helps if you look under-prepared.Recommended
eVisa only — no visa on arrival
Tanzanian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Cameroon. You must apply for and receive your eVisa before you travel. Arriving without one means you'll be denied entry and sent back.
Yellow fever vaccine required
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) at immigration. Get the vaccine at least 10 days before you travel. Keep the card with your passport — it's checked at the same time.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cameroon eVisa website (evisacameroon.com). Fill in your personal and travel details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa PDF. Print at least two copies — one to hand over at immigration, one as backup. Also save a copy on your phone.
3
Arrive at a Cameroon airport
You'll land at Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport or Douala International Airport. Follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'. Have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready.
4
Go through immigration
Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer will check your documents, stamp your passport, and let you through. The whole process usually takes 5–10 minutes if your paperwork is in order.
