RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply for Gabon eVisa
Apply online at evisa.gouv.ga before you travel. Processing takes 3–7 business days, and you need a digital passport photo and a hotel booking or invitation letter. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Libreville will ask for it.Apply for eVisaRequired

Must be valid for at least 6 months
Your Tanzanian passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your intended departure date from Gabon. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required

Proof of onward travel
Immigration at Libreville International Airport routinely asks for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Gabon. Immigration may ask for it during entry questioning, especially if you are staying more than a few days.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or bank statement
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to about 200,000 XAF (roughly $330 USD) per day of your stay. Border officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need to show you can cover your expenses.Recommended
Apply early — no last-minute option
Gabon does not offer visa on arrival or emergency visas at the airport. If your eVisa isn't approved before you fly, you'll be turned away. Apply at least 7 days before departure.
Yellow fever vaccine required
All travellers must show proof of yellow fever vaccination. Carry your International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow card) with your passport — immigration checks it on arrival.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Gabon eVisa website (evisa.gouv.ga). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page and a passport-style photo. Pay the fee online with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3–7 business days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print a paper copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival in Gabon.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Before you leave, gather: your passport (valid 6+ months), printed eVisa, return ticket, and first-night hotel booking. Keep them in your carry-on for easy access.
4
Arrive at Libreville International Airport (LBV)
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Present your passport, eVisa, and return ticket. The officer may ask about your accommodation — have the hotel address ready. They'll stamp your passport and you're in.
