Tanzanian passport holders need an eVisa to enter South Korea. You must apply online before you travel — there's no visa on arrival. This requirement is in effect for 2026.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Tanzania passport holders must apply for a South Korea eVisa at visa.go.kr before departure. Processing takes 5–10 business days — apply at least 2 weeks before your flight. Print the eVisa approval notice and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in South Korea. Airlines may enforce a 6-month validity rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Incheon and Gimpo airports routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or ticket to a third country ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in South Korea. Immigration may ask where you are staying during the entry interview.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card balance
Have a recent bank statement or credit card showing enough funds for your stay. A daily budget of around 100,000 KRW per person is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Apply early — no rush processing
The eVisa takes 5–7 business days. There's no expedited option. If you apply too close to your departure, you risk not getting approved in time.
Keep your eVisa accessible offline
Save a PDF of your eVisa to your phone and take a screenshot. Airport Wi-Fi isn't always reliable, and you'll need to show it at check-in and immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your eVisa online
Go to visa.go.kr, create an account, fill in the application form, upload your passport photo and scanned passport bio page, and pay the fee. Processing takes 5–7 business days on average.
2
Wait for approval and print your eVisa
Check your application status online. Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print a copy and save it to your phone — you'll need it at check-in and immigration.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Pack your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation. Keep them in your carry-on, not checked luggage.
4
Arrive at Incheon or Gimpo Airport
At immigration, join the 'Foreign Passport' queue. Hand over your passport, eVisa, and arrival card (you'll fill it out on the plane). The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly — they process quickly.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After the immigration stamp, head to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel if you have nothing to declare. You're in.
