Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Tanzanian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Moldova. Apply at the official Moldova eVisa portal at least 10 business days before your trip. The eVisa is single-entry and costs around €80 — processing takes 5–10 working days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Moldova. Moldova does not enforce a 6-month validity rule, but airlines may still check for at least 3 months beyond your departure date.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Border officers at Chișinău Airport routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a notarized invitation letter from your host in Moldova ready to show.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers can request evidence of sufficient funds for your stay. Carry bank statements or a credit card statement showing at least €50 per day of your trip.Recommended
Apply early — no visa on arrival
Tanzanian passport holders cannot get a visa at the border. You must have an approved eVisa before you fly. Processing can take up to 7 working days, so apply at least 2 weeks ahead.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Moldova, not from when you apply for the eVisa. If it expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your eVisa online
Go to evisa.gov.md, fill in the application form, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around €80) by card. Processing takes 3–7 working days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
You'll get an email with the approved eVisa as a PDF. Print a copy and save it on your phone. The border officer will scan the QR code at the checkpoint.
3
Arrive at Chișinău International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for non-Moldovan passports. Hand over your passport and eVisa printout. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Expect 2–5 minutes per person.
4
Receive your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the number of days you're allowed to stay (usually 90 days). Keep the eVisa with you during your stay.
