Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Kyiv Boryspil and Lviv airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation, rental agreement, or a notarized invitation letter from a Ukrainian host. Immigration may ask for it during the visa application or at the border.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Show at least $50 USD per day of your stay, or a bank statement covering the trip. Ukrainian border guards rarely check this for visa holders, but have it accessible.Recommended
Apply early — no rush processing
The Ukrainian eVisa takes 5-10 business days and there's no expedited option. Don't wait until the last minute. Apply at least 2 weeks before your departure date.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save PDFs of your eVisa, passport, and bookings on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose your printed documents, digital copies can save you at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Ukrainian eVisa portal (evisa.gov.ua/en). Fill out the application form, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $20-30 USD) by card. Processing takes 5-10 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
You'll get the eVisa by email as a PDF. Print a copy and keep it with your passport. Also save a digital copy on your phone as backup.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Before you fly, gather: passport (valid 6+ months), printed eVisa, return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in a folder you can grab quickly.
4
Arrive at a Ukrainian airport
You'll land at Boryspil International Airport (Kyiv) or Lviv Danylo Halytskyi International Airport. Follow signs to 'Passport Control' — expect a queue of 15-45 minutes depending on the time of day.
5
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport and printed eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking. Answer questions calmly — they're usually routine. You'll get an entry stamp valid for the duration of your visa.
