Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of entry into Fiji. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Fiji
Immigration officers at Nadi International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone showing your departure flight within 120 days.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Fiji. Officers may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have access to at least FJD 500 (around $220 USD) per week of your stay. A bank statement or credit card with available limit works — officers rarely ask, but it is better to have it ready.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you arrive in Fiji. Airlines check this before boarding, and immigration checks it on arrival. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be turned away.
No visa, but have proof of onward travel
Even though you don't need a visa, immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a screenshot or printout ready. Without it, you may be refused entry.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from arrival). Book your return/onward ticket and first night accommodation. Save screenshots or printouts of both. Consider getting travel insurance and a local eSIM.
2
Arrive at Nadi International Airport (or Suva)
Most flights land at Nadi (NAN). After deplaning, follow signs to Immigration. There are usually two queues: one for Fijian citizens/residents and one for foreign visitors. Join the visitor queue.
3
Present your documents to the immigration officer
Hand over your passport and completed arrival card (you'll get it on the plane). The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with a visitor permit valid for up to 120 days.
4
Collect your luggage and proceed through customs
After immigration, go to baggage claim, then customs. Declare any food, plants, or animal products. Fiji is strict about biosecurity. If you have nothing to declare, use the green lane.
