What happens at the border

1
Apply for e-visa
Go to evisa.mn, fill in your details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 for a tourist visa, processing takes 3-5 business days). You'll receive the approval by email.
2
Prepare documents
Print or save on your phone: the e-visa approval, your passport, return ticket, first night hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in a folder or a clear plastic sleeve for quick access.
3
Arrive at Ulaanbaatar airport
At Chinggis Khaan International Airport (UBN), follow signs to immigration. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport and e-visa approval ready. The officer will check your documents, take a photo, and stamp you in. It usually takes 5-10 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's a green channel for nothing to declare and a red channel for goods over $500 or restricted items. Walk through the green channel if you're clean.
