Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the length of your stay in Namibia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Namibia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at Windhoek's Hosea Kutako International Airport. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed or digital hotel reservation, hostel booking, or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask for it if you look uncertain about where you are staying.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 1,000 NAD (about $55 USD) per day of your stay. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need a quick answer.Recommended
No visa needed — but don't skip the basics
Even though you don't need a visa, immigration can still deny entry if your passport doesn't meet the 6-month validity rule or you don't have a return ticket. Double-check these before you fly.
Overstaying is costly
Overstaying your 90-day visa-free period can result in a fine of up to N$5,000 and a possible ban from re-entering Namibia. Set a reminder to leave on time.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Hosea Kutako International Airport (Windhoek)
Most flights from Ukraine connect through Europe or the Middle East. After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for foreigners and Namibian citizens — join the foreigner queue.
2
Present your documents at immigration
Hand over your passport and any supporting documents (return ticket, accommodation). The officer will check your passport validity and blank pages. They may ask a few questions about your trip — be honest and concise.
3
Receive your entry stamp
If everything is in order, the officer will stamp your passport with a 90-day visitor entry. Check the stamp before leaving the counter — make sure the date is correct.
4
Collect your luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, head to baggage claim. Then walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no restricted items. If you're carrying cash over N$50,000 or goods over N$5,000, use the red channel.
