Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Nigeria eVisa
Apply for your Nigeria eVisa at the Nigeria Immigration Service portal before you fly. The eVisa is a single-entry permit, and you must print the approval letter to present at the border. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, so apply at least a week ahead.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your Ukrainian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Nigeria. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration officers at Lagos and Abuja enforce it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration at Nigerian airports routinely asks for a printed or digital return or onward ticket. If you don't have one, you may be denied boarding or entry. Book a refundable ticket if your plans are flexible.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your Nigerian host ready. Officers at the border sometimes ask for it, especially if you're arriving without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Carry a bank statement showing at least $500 USD (or equivalent) for your stay, or have a credit card with sufficient limit. Immigration may ask to see it if you look underprepared.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination required
You must have a yellow fever vaccination at least 10 days before travel. Carry your International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow card) — immigration will ask for it on arrival.
eVisa is single-entry only
The eVisa allows one entry into Nigeria. If you leave and want to return, you'll need to apply for a new eVisa. Plan your trip accordingly.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Nigeria Immigration Service portal (portal.immigration.gov.ng). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport data page. Pay the visa fee (around $160 USD) by credit card. You'll receive a confirmation email with a reference number.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3-5 business days. You'll get an email with your eVisa approval letter. Print it out — you'll need to show it at the airport check-in counter and upon arrival in Nigeria.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Before you leave, gather: your printed eVisa approval, passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket, accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in your carry-on for easy access.
4
Arrive at a Nigerian airport
You'll land at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Lagos or Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV) in Abuja. Follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Arrivals'. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'.
5
Present your documents to immigration
Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will check your details, take your fingerprints, and stamp your passport. You'll be asked a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying). Answer clearly and honestly.
6
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim. Then go through customs (green channel if nothing to declare, red channel if you have goods over the duty-free limit). Exit into the arrivals hall.

Frequently asked questions

Processing usually takes 3-5 business days. Apply at least a week before your trip to be safe. The fee is around $160 USD, paid online by credit card.
No, the eVisa is not extendable. You must leave before the 90-day stay expires. If you need to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a different visa type from a Nigerian embassy before travel.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. If it's less, renew your passport before applying for the eVisa. Immigration will deny entry otherwise.
Yes, a yellow fever vaccination is required for entry. You'll need to show the International Certificate of Vaccination (the yellow card) upon arrival. Get the vaccine at least 10 days before travel.
No, transit passengers also need a visa unless they stay airside and don't pass through immigration. Check with your airline for specific transit rules.
Rejections are rare but can happen if your documents are incomplete or your passport is not valid long enough. You can reapply with corrected information. Contact the Nigerian embassy in Kyiv for guidance.
