Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Serbia. No minimum validity period beyond your departure date is required by Serbian law, but airlines may ask for 6 months validity — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Serbia
Immigration officers at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave within the 90-day visa-free period. A printed or digital copy on your phone works fine.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a letter from a host ready. Officers occasionally ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry bank statements, a credit card, or cash equivalent to roughly €50 per day of your stay. Border officers rarely check this for short visits, but having proof avoids delays.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Serbia. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before your trip.
No visa needed, but keep proof of onward travel
While not always checked, immigration officers can ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a screenshot or printed copy ready to avoid delays.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the border
At Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport or any land border crossing, join the queue for non-EU/non-Schengen passports. Have your passport ready.
2
Present your passport
Hand over your passport to the officer. They'll check the photo page, verify validity, and may ask your purpose of visit and length of stay.
3
Answer basic questions
Common questions: 'How long are you staying?' 'Where will you stay?' 'Do you have a return ticket?' Answer honestly and briefly. Have your booking confirmations accessible.
4
Receive entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the entry date and allowed stay (usually 90 days). Check the stamp before walking away.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. No additional forms or fees for visa-free entry.
